Change is good -- if done properly

Change is good — at least that’s what some people say. Change within software or computer systems, however, can wreak havoc if not done properly. In fact, Enterprise Management Associates says more than 60% of all critical system and application outages are caused by inappropriate change. Sounds like a problem.

To help prevent such problems, CA yesterday announced a new release of CA Software Change Manager. Organizations can use it to “better manage and control globally distributed software change initiatives, from request to release,” the company says.

And by integrating CA Software Change Manager r12 with CA Clarity, CA Service Desk Manager, and CA Software Delivery, customers can streamline software and operational change management processes and more quickly respond to changing business opportunities and demands, the company says.

The need to manage change on the mainframe has also increased as more businesses deploy SOA-based Web services on the mainframe to support applications on a distributed platform. CA says Software Change Manager r12 with CA Endevor Software Change Manager is designed to provide integrated and simultaneous release management for distributed and mainframe platforms.

More information about CA Software Change Manager r12 can be found on CA’s website.
