SAP's Internet Pricing and Configurator (IPC) is now called "Price Engine" in SAP CRM 2007. The Internet sales/e-commerce feature in previous SAP releases is now called "Web Channel."
Previously, IPC had a configuration engine, pricing engine and tax engine, all of which were delivered on a separate server. Now, all three engines are part of the SAP Application Platform (AP) 7.0.0. The engine functionality is available on each application server running on AP 7.0.0. Also, IPC 4.0 was based on the Java Development Kit (JDK) 1.3 or 1.4 compliant Java Virtual Machine (JVM), but SAP AP 7.0.0 is based on the Virtual Machine Container (VMC), which is part of Basis 7.0.0.
Also, a new concept for user exits was introduced in AP 7.0.0. This affects the Java
coding, the administration of relevant attributes and formula numbers, and the procedure of implementing formulas and requirements. Any user exit relevant settings -- formerly set by the IPC 4.0 administrator -- have been moved to customizing tables.
