Sigma Resources & Technology has integrated its signature test automation product, SigmationTF, with VMware's Lab Manager, a virtual lab automation system. Sigma has also joined VMware's Technology Alliance Partner (TAP) program.
Sigma's move toward virtualization was a partially a result of feedback from clients, according Jia-Ru Li, vice president of technology for Sigma. Customers wanted to automate testing without the burden of purchasing and maintaining the machines needed to run tests, he said.
Juniper Networks Inc. has worked with Sigma for the past two and half years to automate its testing, raising its automation rate from five to 85%. Sigma is now using its virtualization capabilities to decrease the testing burden on 4,500 of Juniper's computers, said Li.
Test automation and virtualized workstations are becoming increasingly popular options for companies, as teams are dispersed across the globe and applications achieve ever greater levels of complexity.
